Using a violet toner will
subdue hair that is too

The Colour
Star
A client’s hair is
too copper. What
would you use to
tone down the
copper?
Blue ash toner would
tone down copper.
A client’s hair is too khaki matt
in tone. What would you use to
tone down the hair?
We can subdue unwanted
colours by using opposites
on the colour star. These
are called complimentary
colours.
Did you work out that a red tint
will subdue a khaki matt tone?

Now work in small groups or
with a partner to discuss and

She has 30% white and appears a 6/3 shade on her
mid-lengths and ends. She has been on the sun-bed
and her hair is very faded. Discuss the shades you
would use, the application method, how to refresh her
