Science

Name three causes
for RAPID (fast)
landform changes.
1. Earthquakes
2. Volcanoes
3. Floods
Name the layers of the
Earth from inside, out.
1. Inner core
2. Outer core
3. Mantle
4. Crust
What layers of the earth’s
surface are made up of
many different pieces that
fit together like a puzzle?
1. Crust
2. Mantle
What causes
earthquakes?
When the crust and mantle
pull away and push into
each other. This causes a
shaking of the Earth’s
surface called an
earthquake.
What is a volcano?
A volcano is an opening in the
Earth’s surface from which lava
flows.
An eruption of a volcano can
blow off a mountain top, cause
liquid rock to build up new
mountains and sometimes burn
nearby forests and buildings.
What is a flood?
A large amount of water
that covers land which is
normally dry. Floods often
occur where heavy rains
cause rivers to fill and
overflow their banks into
low lying areas.
How do floods
change the land?
Flood waters leave rich soil
and sand behind, which can
be good for crops.
Floods damage buildings,
roads.
