Science TABOO- A twist on
the original game.
Science/ SST Camp
8th grade 1011
The procedures:
• Students will be divided into groups of four.
• One person- reads the card. They start with the hints at the bottom.
They read them one at a time. A point is added for each hint that is
used.
• If the team gets to the top of the hints list and the key term is NOT
identified, the other team gets to steal the card. (points)
• The winning team either adds or subtracts their points.
• The original card holder will add points to team score. If a card is
stolen by the other team, those points will be deducted from their
score.
• The winner is the team with the lowest score at the end of the game.
The procedures: (Alternate rules)
• Students will be divided into groups of 4.
• Each group of 4 will be divided into partners.
• Each pair of partners will take turns trying to get the most
points.
– Points
• 3 points for getting key term without use of hint terms.
• 2 points for getting key term but team accidently used a hint term.
• 1 point for ‘stealing the key term’
• Points are earned by getting your partner to say the key
term without using the hints.
• Hints, which cannot be used should help you remember
the concept.
• The pair from each group with the most points will win.
The Rules:
• Partners in the group take turns explaining
the key term.
• There are two ways to play. Please refer
to the rules cards.
The TABOO Card
• The KEY term is bolded, highlighted, and
located at the top of the card.
• The hints are smaller, and listed in bullet
fashion.
