Whether a pizza, ready meal, bag of leafy salad,

They are all kept fresh by being kept chilled.

Good Personal Hygiene
Bugs and Bacteria
Ready to eat chilled foods are eaten without
cooking so should be clean and free from
germs and bugs.
How do bacteria behave?
• Chilling food helps to stop some
bacteria from growing
• Slows down their growth and slows
down food going off
• What would happen if food
products are taken out of the fridge
and left on the kitchen work surface?
Protective Clothing
• What you wear in a chilled food factory is
important and how you put the clothing on!
• Let’s have a look at some of the clothing and
