Class average
Use the class average results to construct a bar graph.
How is disease spread?
Eye
Produce tears which
contain a digestive juice
which digests pathogens.
Nose and Throat
Mucus traps pathogens and
hair brushes them out
Mouth
Ear
Produce wax to trap
any pathogens
Saliva contains digestive
juices which break down
pathogens.
Stomach
Skin
As a whole it acts as a
barrier to pathogens
Acid destroys
pathogens before
they can reach the
small intestine.
If it is damaged a scab
will form
Reproductive
Organs
Acidic conditions in
the vagina help to kill
pathogens.
What happens if microbes get past
the first line of defence?
Antibiotics
What do antibiotics do?
Antibiotics
Antibiotics only kill bacteria.
(they don’t work on viruses!)
