* Hepatitis A is an enteric virus that is very
small. It can be transferred through
contaminated water, causing outbreaks. The
virus is eliminated by a person carrying it, and
if the sewage contaminates the water supply,
then the virus is carried in the water until it is
consumed by a host.
*
* Dangerous and sometimes
deadly biological
contaminant found in
water or in foods washed
with contaminated
water(most common in
raw seafood)
* Symptoms include mild to
severe diarrhea, vomiting
and dehydration, and can
last anywhere from a few
hours, up to five days.
* Replenishing fluids and
using antibiotics is the
only way to shorten
duration of symptoms.
*
*E. coli (Escherichia coli) is a type
of fecal coliform bacteria found in
the intestines of animals and
humans.
*There are numerous strains of
E.coli, the majority of which are
harmless. However, E.coli strain
0157:H7 is one of the most serious
drinking water contaminants.
*It is responsible for numerous
North America deaths each year.
