What is Abetment? Abetment of an Offence is defined under
Section 107 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and is applicable
to all other Legislation.
Abetment is said to take place under Three Circumstances:
When a person instigates another to Commit an Offence.
When he engages in a Conspiracy to Commit the Offence.
When he intentionally aids another person to Commit an
Offence.
What may Constitute Abetment in relation to Drunk Driving:
Encouraging a person to get Drunk before he gets behind the
wheel. This may include an active suggestion that it is Cool
to do so.
Telling a person that he has nothing to worry about, as you
will help him evade check points.
Giving Alcohol to a person while he is Driving.
Placing a bet with your friend to find out how drunk he can
get before he can get before he takes his car out.

In a first of its kind case, a Co-Passenger has been convicted for Abetting a
Drunk Driving Offence. The Two Persons held Guilty on 11th Feb 2009 are Thane
residents, Yogesh Bhoir (20) and Lokesh Gholap (22).
Bhoir was driving the SWIFT Car which belonged to his father. Officials said the
Duo had visited a Bar late on Feb 4th 2009. They were returning to their
Naupada residence when a Traffic Police stopped them at Modella Check Naka.
Bhoir tested positive in the Breath Analyzer Test, which showed 146 ml of
Alcohol in his blood and Gholap showed 385 ml of Alcohol in his blood.
Bhior’s License has been suspended for Six Months. Both were sentenced to
simple imprisonment of one day and slapped a fine of Rs2000 each.

Anti-Global Warming Bacteria.

A Team of Five Indian Scientists from Four Institute, including
Nagpur’s NEERI, discovered a Bacteria that coverts Carbon Dioxide
into Calcium Carbonate, a compound found in Limestone and Chalk.
Though the Chemical Reaction has been successfully established
after a Research of 3Years, its Economic Viability and Single-Step
Purification Step are yet to be found.
When used as an Enzyme-Bio-molecules that speed up a Chemical
Reaction, the Bacteria has been found to transform CO2 into Calcium
Carbonate (CACO3), which can fetch minerals of Economic Value.
Carbon Dioxide is a Greenhouse gas produced in the burning of Fossil
Fuels and other Industrial Activities. The rising emission of CO2 in the
atmosphere is chiefly responsible for Global Warming. Reducing CO2
levels are the single most important Strategy to fight Global Warming
and the resulting effects of climate change.
The Enzyme can be put to work in any situation like in a chamber fitted
inside a factory chimney through which CO2 would pass before being
emitted into the atmosphere, and it would convert the Greenhouse
Gas into Calcium Carbonate.
