For optimal protein production from
bacteria, a scientist wants to grow the
bacteria to a density (OD600) of 2.5-3.5.
●
Once this density of bacteria has been
achieved, the scientist will give the bacteria
a chemical “kick” known as induction.
This will cause the bacteria to start
producing the protein of interest.
●
We now want to continue to grow the
bacteria for an additional two hours after
the induction “kick.”
