Scissors
A tool used to cut
paper and other
objects used in the
science classroom.
Beaker
• A special glass jar used
to hold liquids.
• It has a spout on its rim
to make pouring easier
and is not used to
measure liquids
precisely.
Graduated Cylinder
• A glass or plastic tube
with a base and
numbered marks on its
side that is used to
measure liquids
precisely.
• You read a graduated
cylinder at the meniscus
Test Tube
• Slender glass tube
used to hold
chemicals during
reactions.
Bunsen Burner
• This tool burns gas
and is used for
heating materials.
Petri Dish
• A small, flat, clear dish
used to grow mold or
bacteria.
Microscope Slide
• A small piece of glass
which holds samples
for viewing under a
microscope.
Dropper
• This tool is used to
dispense small
drops of liquids.
Triple Beam Balance
• A tool used to
measure mass in
grams.
Magnifying Glass
• A hand-held lens
which makes
objects look larger.
Ruler
• A tool used for making
linear measurements in
mm and cm.
Microscope
• A scientific tool used
for examining objects
too small to be seen
with the naked eye.
