We would love to have you join our Tournament Committee to plan the
next ICAN Northern California Invitational.
Returning September 19, 2016 to Napa Valley Country Club!
Your support will sustain and grow ICAN’s Stage IV cancer patient
advocacy services.
Please call us at 562-427-5561 or email [email protected]
When my husband Eddie was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, we
were all numb. Your organization was the calm in the middle of our
storm.
Without your analytical abilities on clinical trials, your network of
contacts and referrals, and above all, your time and compassion, I don’t
know what we would have done.
I will be forever grateful, as are the many patient referrals I have sent
ICAN’s way.
Almost 12 years ago, through ICAN, I was put in touch with Dr. Robert Pettit
[Chair of ICAN’s Scientific Advisory Council]. At that time my daughter was
found to have Ovarian Cancer. Through his and Marcia Horn’s guidance and
constant consultations, I was able to give valuable input to her cancer
treatment by the fantastic physicians treating my daughter.
Ovarian Cancer patients rarely survive more than 3 years. Five years is
considered lucky. Twelve years is a miracle! As of today - 11 years, 11
months, and 10 days - my daughter, Wendy, lives a full life and is disease free
as determined by all recent testing. (Continued…)
Wendy being alive and disease free is only because of the skills of her
treating physicians and the dedication of the people associated with ICAN such as Marcia Horn and Dr. Pettit.
Personalized medical treatment is the epitome of medical treatment for
cancer patients. My family is fortunate to have had that opportunity.
Thank you ICAN.
…I’ve had extensive experience working with a variety of oncologists,
scientists in various disciplines, and advocates assisting the victims of
cancer…One of the most dedicated, productive, resourceful, creative, and
overall brilliant advocates for cancer victims that I’ve ever had the pleasure
of knowing and assisting is (ICAN’s CEO) Marcia K. Horn. She leads…with
great expertise and productivity.
G. Robert Pettit, PhD, Regents Professor of Chemistry, former Director,
Arizona State University Cancer Research Institute (and one of the most
prolific discoverers of anticancer drugs in the world).
Marcia Horn and ICAN, International Cancer Advocacy Network, have
shown incredible dedication, availability, accessibility, and brilliance
providing time saving direction in leading families who are baffled by
the present system of “cancer care.” Had we not found this
organization, we definitely feel our family member would have been
abandoned and left for dead. (Continued…)
ICAN is committed to patient rights, empowering patients by educating and
finding routes through a system that is bogged down by the lack of true
diagnosis, inadequate communication with patients and their families, and
shortsighted doctors and staff that find themselves in a quagmire caused by
corporate hospital statistics that seem to be more important than the
humans themselves.
ICAN is an amazing organization and I recommend contacting them at the
first entrance to any cancer labyrinth of “care,” no matter what the stage.
Thank you ICAN and Marcia.
Hands down, this is the place to go if you are suffering from confusion,
lack of knowledge, or just someone to show kindness during your
battle with cancer. No other organization came close to what ICAN has
done to help me. They are the most committed and kind people that I
have ever had the pleasure of talking to. Thank you Marcia Horn and
the rest of your team! I love you all!
I know Marcia at ICAN, International Cancer Advocacy Network, to be
tenacious in advocating for cancer patients. She connects each
individual with “the” oncologist/specialist best suited for the specific
patient’s needs. I have seen her open doors faster than you can blink;
and they are the right doors. Marcia’s network in the oncology
community is—as far as I can see—unparalleled.
ICAN is truly an incredible organization. The services it provides are
unparalleled by any organization of its kind, and the level of
involvement, investment, and caring for individual patients has
exceeded my greatest expectations for what I had hoped to become
involved with. The services that ICAN provides for patients, in what is
undoubtedly the most difficult time in their lives, and at no cost,
provides such hope. (Continued…)
Marcia Horn, CEO, tirelessly works all hours of the day, 8 days a week,
to ensure that ICAN patients receive the best possible care to maximize
their chances of survival. The volunteer experience is of equal quality,
as Marcia takes the time to ensure that the volunteers are engaged to
their best potential and provides unique opportunities to gain
involvement and experience. I cannot recommend ICAN highly
enough… if advocacy were an Olympic sport, ICAN would win the gold.
