Agriculture touches my life every day.

Agriculture affects your life if you eat or wear clothes.







Texas farmers and ranchers work hard to provide a safe,
affordable food supply.
Eating meat is an important part of a healthy and balanced diet.
Eating fruits and vegetables is an important part of a healthy and
balanced diet.
Agriculture is more than food.
Agriculture will be less important as our population gets larger
and more people live in the city.
If farmers did not raise farm animals or grow crops, I would not
be able to eat foods such as pizza and hamburgers.
I am going home to tell my parents about the importance of
agriculture.

Meat from livestock provides a good source of protein.
Dairy cattle are raised for meat.
Steaks and hamburgers come from beef cattle.
Bacon, eggs and ham come from pigs.
Dairy foods (like milk, cheese, and yogurt) help me grow

Grains (like wheat, corn, and rice) provide my body with
carbohydrates which gives me energy.
Wheat is made into flour which makes foods like bread, pasta,
and crackers.

Tortillas, chips, sodas, and popcorn can be made from corn.

Cotton (like our clothes, cotton balls, etc.) comes from a plant.

Many of our clothes (like blue jeans) are made of cotton.

Leather comes from the cotton plant.

Water can come from the ground.



It is not important to conserve water because we have more
than we’ll ever need.
My body gets water by eating foods with water in them and by
drinking water.
10% of my body is made of water, so I only need to drink water a
few times a week to survive.
