What is Pink Sunday/ Worship
in Pink Weekend?
The National Consortium of Black
Women in Ministry (NCBWIM), Nashville
Chapter and the Greater Nashville
affiliate of Susan G. Komen ® have
partnered to provide a breast health
outreach initiative to Middle Tenessee by
Sponsoring Pink Sunday/ Worship in
Pink (PS/WIP).
What is Pink Sunday/ Worship
in Pink Weekend?
Hundreds of churches join in the effort to
“Celebrate Life- Increase AwarnessInspire Hope” by spreading the message
of early detection and honoring
survivors.
Did You Know?
1 in 8 women will get breast cancer within
her lifetime.
Did you know?
Men can get breast cancer too.
Over 2,200 men are expected to be
diagnosed in the U.S. in 2013.
Did you know?
Over 230,000 women will be diagnosed
with breast cancer in 2013.
More than 5,000 of these women will be
in Tennessee.
Did you know?
Even though Caucasian women get
breast cancer at higher rates,
African American women are more
likely to die from breast cancer.
Did you know?
Breast cancer is NOT a death
sentence!
When caught early, the 5-year
survival rate is 98%.
What can you
do?

1. KNOW YOUR RISK
Talk to your family
about your family health
history
Talk to your health care
provider about your
personal risk of breast
cancer
2. GET SCREENED
Ask your health care provider
which screening tests are right for
you if you are at higher risk
Have a mammogram every year
starting at age 40 if you are at
average risk
Have a clinical breast exam at
least every 3 years starting at 20,
and every year starting at 40
3. KNOW WHAT IS NORMAL FOR YOU
Know how your breasts look
and feel
Report changes to your health
care provider right away
4. MAKE HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHOICES
 Maintain a healthy
weight
 Add exercise into
your routine
 Limit alcohol intake
