Patient-Centered Programs
• The most notable change in the CoC Cancer Program
Standards is the shift from standards that primarily
defined the structure of the cancer program to include
new standards that enhance patient centered functions
and define performance criteria in quality measurement
and outcomes.

Categories of
Cancer Program
• Community Cancer Program (CCP)
– Accessions more than 100 but fewer than 500 newly diagnosed
cancer cases each year
– Provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services either
on-site or by referral
– Participates in cancer-related clinical research either by
enrolling patients in cancer-related clinical trails or referring
patients for enrollment at another facility or through a
physician’s office
– Participation in the training of resident physicians is optional

Standard 1.3
• Cancer Committee Attendance
– Each required member attends at least 50% of the cancer
committee meetings held during any given year
• Required members include physicians and non-physicians who are specified
in Standard 1.2
• Attendance at cancer committee meetings may include participation through
conference or teleconference calls with appropriate meeting documents
provided.
• The minutes document the attendance at each meeting
• The cancer committee monitors the attendance of individual members to
ensure participation at cancer committee meeting
