Visitors to the Canton of Thurgau in northeastern Switzerland will probably see
a fair share of cows. It seems that wherever there’s grazing land in the Alps,
cows are present. But apple and pear orchards, as well as an increasing
number of vineyards, comprise a big portion of the farmland in Thurgau.
With Lake Constance defining the eastern edge of the canton, Thurgau enjoys
a bustling tourist industry. After a day of cycling or boating along the shore,
travelers can sample the local brews and enjoy the classically Swiss style of
small resort towns.
