Q: What were the four main periods in N. Africa’s history?
A: 1) Ancient Times; 2) Period of Invasions;
3) European Control; 4) Modern North Africa
3.

1. Describe the features of six aspects of North African culture
using an info web.
2. Define the term choke points.
3. List seven historical events (and their dates) that chronicle
(show the order of) the development of the Suez Canal.
Today we will work in teams. Each team will do the entire web
together. But here’s the catch—every team will start at a different
spot on that web.  The part you start at is also the one your team
is responsible for when we report our results. So each team
becomes our “expert” on one part of the web.
Before I assign your team’s starting point, I have a question:
What does “culture” mean?
Culture is what people value, what’s important to them, what they
hold dear to their hearts. Name some examples of culture.
Food, festivals/holidays, religion, crafts/art, types of literature,
the language we speak, etc.
To fill out the culture web, open your Red textbook to page 478.
You will consult pp. 478 – 479 to find specific examples. Please note
that I will be walking around, observing, and . . .
I will grade each of you on how you work as a team.
Here are your team starting points:

Team 2
Religions
Team 3

Team 4

Cornell Notes as your graphic organizer.
Show me what you have when you finish. 
