CSE 3: Fluency with Information Technology
By Lisa Lin
Computational Thinking
Fluency with Information Technology is a class focused on
cultivating deeper understanding the various ways, in which we
can use technology to present information and communicate
ideas.
Presentation of Information with
MS PowerPoint
We used MS PowerPoint to illustrate data in a fun
and creative way. We were able to choose from a
variety of design themes and make it our own.
Dynamic Webpage Programming with
JavaScript
We put together all our knowledge to create a final project of
programming a Blackjack game. The intricacies of programming
JavaScript to create this functioning, card game was tedious, yet
rewarding.
Visual Programming with Alice
We experimented with Alice to familiarize ourselves with the
concepts of loops and iterations. We then created animation of
frogs, and it was awesome.
Making Information Available to the World
with HTML and Web Pages
Desktop Publishing with MS Word
Data Analysis and Visualization with
MS Excel
We created a budget sheet using excel and used equations to
calculated daily, weekly, and monthly budgets. Then, we
translated the information in the table into chart form.
We explored Microsoft Word and learned new
techniques and ways to present information. We
synthesized information that was presented on an
existing website.
We used the program Notepad++ to program in HTML and
JavaScript coding language. After we created our project, we
used Secure Transfer Client Shell to transfer our documents onto
the World Wide Web.
