INVESTIGATION: POSSIBLE ANIMALS
1. Open your Sources Table (Sources folder)
• You need to conduct research to decide upon a maximum of
2 animals for your shelter
• You must record EVERY website you use for research in the
Sources Table – even if you do not use it for your final answer.

2. You will write your decision in the above question box.
TASK (10 mins): Decide upon your animal/s.
NB. You will need to conduct extensive research so ensure your
animals are ones which are not too obscure.

NB. Ensure that you keep your target audience and chosen
animal/s in mind for this.

• Temperatures e.g. in some catteries each run has its
own thermostat
• Health & Safety e.g. cat litter has to be collected as
hazardous waste

not, create a new

DESIGNING THE DATABASE
• Open MS Excel
• Save in Activity 1 folder and call it Survey Results
Collect results logically so that you can produce
graphs from it
EXAMPLE – think about how you would produce a pie chart to
show how many people belong to different age ranges
SENDING YOUR SURVEY
At least 10 participants ranging in age groups
Their email addresses
Email them your survey – you will be able to check
which results have come through
When all your completed surveys have been
submitted, you must input the results into your Excel
worksheet.

Use formulae to calculate percentages
Use graphs and charts to visually display some of
the important results
Make sure figures are displayed in a suitable format
e.g. not to 5 decimal places

development, using feedback from others to improve the
outcomes.

Get feedback about both of your designs from
teacher and test buddy so you can choose which
one should be final.
• An appropriate font – it has the right
personality or character
• Colour that communicates the
company’s values – e.g. serious or
upbeat and dynamic
• A good layout – font size and the
surrounding area are well proportioned
• A simple design – perhaps just type or a
very simple, graphic image

Cut and paste you other logo into the Other folder

STARTING THE WEB BANNER
1. Find a minimum of 2 pictures from the Internet that
you want to use in your web banner
2. Save them with a meaningful name in your Other
folder
3. Record these websites and pictures in your sources
table – this time you are using the bottom half
