What is Cloud Computing?
• Term coined on February 24th, 2007
• "A standardised IT capability, such as software, app platform, or
infrastructure, delivered via Internet technologies in a pay-per-use
and self-service way” (Forrester Research)
• Far more than Web 2.0
• Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS)
• Software as a Service (SAAS)
• Platform as a Service (PAAS)
Interoperability and Disability
• Use same components as mainstream products
• Use same software and protocols as mainstream products
• Promote UN convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
• Promote Universal Design
• Promote use of Worldwide Web Consortium Guidelines
• Facilitates Assistive Devices to operate similar to handheld
mainstream devices

Infrastructure

• The purpose of GPII is to ensure that everyone who
faces accessibility barriers due to disability, literacy, or
aging, regardless of economic resources, can access
and use the Internet and all its information, communities,
and services for education, employment, daily living,
civic participation, health, and safety.

ITU Focus Group on Cloud
Computing
• Web site

• Set up in May, 2010
• 7th Meeting currently in progress in Seoul, South Korea
• Operates from the standardization view points and within
the competences of ITU
• Analyse which components would benefit most from
interoperability and standardization

• Co-ordinated actions on other UN activities such as WIPO Treaty on
Copyright, WSIS and Millennium Development Goals
• ITU Focus Group on Cloud Computing
