Case Study: Get Up and Go
The opening case study focuses on preparing a
PowerPoint presentation to promote a new
product called Get Up and Go. Students will
open a partially completed presentation and
add a design template, action button, a footer,
animation, and sounds. Students will also save
their presentations as Web pages and print
handouts to submit to their instructor.

A PowerPoint Quiz

You can record your own sounds using the
Sound Recorder

You can add action buttons to click to the
next slide, advance to a future slide, or go
back to a previous slide

Hyperlinks can be used just like action
buttons, or they can link slides to external
links

Hidden slides can be selected using the
Slide Navigator tool to answer anticipated
audience questions

The Slide Master

The Slide Master controls all elements on
slides, such as:






Font styles
Placeholder sizes and positions
Background designs
Color schemes
Alignments
Making a change on the Slide Master
enables changes to all individual slides at
once

For example, action buttons or a logo can be
added to every slide

Presentations on the Web
PowerPoint presentations can become
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) Web
pages
 Use the Save As Web Page command to
convert a presentation to HTML

Presentations converted to HTML can be viewed
in Internet Explorer

A presentation saved as HTML can be
uploaded to a Web server to view locally on
an intranet or on the Internet


Use the Record Narration command to
record a sound file



Sound files can be linked to or embedded in a
presentation
A sound icon is placed on each slide that has an
embedded sound file
Slides can be set to automatically play sound
files




Practice your script before recording
Sounds files can grow very large
Linking sound files decreases the size of a
presentation, but makes it hard to copy
