The Player Agent
Are they the most important league official
right now?
Player Agent- post registration
• The Player Agent following registration is the most
important person in your league, even more
important than your President.
Player Agent- To do items
•Develop list of eligible candidates
•Remember all 9-12 year olds who are not
already on a major league team must try out
•Exception: Parent concerns for a child
playing in majors. This is handled by the
league. If child is sent down to the minors they
loose the chance of being called up.
•The 12 year old waiver is in effect when
parent, league president, and DA sign.
Player Agent- Tryouts
Following registration the player agent is in
charge of tryouts. Each candidate must be
given the opportunity to:
– Bunt
– Field fly balls
– Field ground balls
– Throw/pitch
– Run
Player Agent- Tryouts
1. All of these skills should be done within the
same age level
2. Each skill will be graded 1 through 5
3. A total of 25 points is the highest score a player
can receive
4. Usually candidates scoring between 15 and 25
points are considered major league eligible
TRYOUTS- A player must attend 50% of the
tryouts
Player Agent- The draft
When it is the day for the draft the Player Agent
is the most important person in the room. He or
she goes over the rules and regulations before
the draft begins and answers any or all
questions that may come up.
Player Agent- The draft
Let’s go over some of the normal rules:
1. Reverse order of last year team standing
2. Brother and sisters must go in the first 3 rounds
3. Manager’s child must be taken in the first 3
rounds
A- Age 12 within first 3 rounds
B- Age 11 within first 4 rounds
C- Age 10/9 within first 5 rounds
Player Agent- Trading
Note- Coaches should be picked after the draft
is completed, then players may be traded
Trading players can happen only after the draft;
this is with the approval of the player agent,
manager, and the board of directors.
This is usually due to a request by a parent or
a coach
Problems of this nature should be in writing
and reviewed by the board of directors
Player Agent- Post Draft
Now that the draft is over the Player Agent
is still in high gear!
Once teams have been picked and trading is
finished the player agent must make sure all
managers or coaches call all the team players
and informs them they have been selected to
his or her team. The manager or coach talks to
the parent, introduces him or herself and gives
a quick over view of their practice schedule
and their expectations of the players. The best
way to do this is a team meeting.
