A pair of sex cells fail to separate during
the formation of an egg or sperm
 Embryo ends up with three copies of
chromosomes
 (XXY)
 A recessive trait

Abnormal body proportions
 Infertility
 Tall height
 Gynecomastia

Many have normal lives but some are shortened by
a few years
 This is not curable but treatable
The treatment for this disorder is:
 Testosterone therapy which helps
› Grow body hair
› Appearance of muscles
› Concentration
› Mood, energy, and strength


The man is most likely unable to have a
child and start a family
It may not be diagnosed until puberty
 They sometimes go through emotional
and depressing times
 Men are more vulnerable to other
female diseases

