Discussion topics
• Know the details of transcription and translation –
enzymes involved, what is produced, where the
process happens, etc. (about 50% of the exam).
• Know why the genetic ‘code’ is said to be degenerate
(or redundant), and what wobble is.
• Know the different ways genetic expression is
regulated.
• Know the lac operon details.
• In addition to the terms in Chapter 12, know how
reverse transcriptase is used to make cDNA, and how
this is helpful.
• Also, know the ten fill-in-the-blank questions for each
of the three chapters.
