Arteriosclerosis: occurs when the

Superior Vena Cava: Largest Vein in the
body. Receives blood from the body.
Pulmonary Fibrosis: a disease marked
by scarring in the lungs. The alveoli (air
sacs) are affected by thickening, stiffness,
and scarring of the tissue.

Aorta: Largest Artery in the body
Cholesterol: Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like
substance that's found in all cells of the
body. Your body needs some cholesterol
to make hormones, vitamin D, and
substances that help you digest foods

Cystic Fibrosis: The lungs naturally
produce a layer of mucus to protect them.
In CF the layer of mucus is thicker than
usual. The thick, sticky mucus in the
lungs obstructs airways and allows
bacterial infection and inflammation to
occur

Negative feedback is a reaction that
causes a decrease in function. It occurs
in response to some kind of stimulus.
Often it causes the output of a system to
be lessened; so, the feedback tends to
stabilize the system.

Positive feedback enhances the original
stimulus. An example of a positive
feedback mechanism is blood clotting.
Once a vessel is damaged, platelets
start to cling to the injured site and
release chemicals that attract more
platelets. The platelets continue to pile
up and release chemicals until a clot is
formed.
