 Sexual Assault- any type of sexual activity that you do
not agree to.
 This can be verbal, visual, or anything that forces a
person to join in unwanted sexual contact or attention.






Vaginal, oral, or anal penetration
What to do if sexual assaulted:
Get away from attacker
Call friend or family member
DO NOT wash, comb, or clean any part
of your body
DO NOT change clothes
DO NOT touch or change anything at
the scene of the assault
How to protect yourself from being
assaulted:
Be aware of your surroundings
Walk with confidence
Don’t let drugs or alcohol cloud your
judgment

Date Rape Drugs
~drugs that are sometimes used to assist a sexual attack
 GHB- (Gamma Hydroxyl Butyric Acid) relaxation, drowsiness,
dizziness, memory loss, unconsciousness
 Rohypnol (Roofie)- memory loss, sleepiness, problems talking,
confusion
 Ketamine- hallucinations, loss of sense of time and identity,
feeling of out of control, loss of coordination
**Alcohol can also be considered a date rape drug
*Drugs can take effect within 15 minutes depending on which drug
and what it is mixed with.

 The evidence kit affords the opportunity to collect
any DNA that may have been left by the suspect
 A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)
 The contents of the evidence collection kit vary by state and
jurisdiction. They may include:







•Instructions
•Bags and sheets for evidence collection
•Swabs
•Comb
•Envelopes
•Blood collection devices
•Documentation forms
Examiner starts:
 Collection of blood, urine, hair and other body secretion samples.
•Photo documentation.
•Collection of the victim’s clothing, especially undergarments.
•Collection of any possible physical evidence that may have
transferred onto the victim from the rape scene.
