Silk Production in China
--the beginning
• The history of silk production in China
could be dated back to 5,000 years ago,
when the first silk was accidentally got
from a cocoon.
• Silk is one of the greatest miracles
discovered by the Chinese people, who
firstly initiated sericulture and silk
production in the world.
Silk Production in China
---A gift for gods and spirits
• Wondering the lifecycle of silkworm,
people in ancient times believed it
cocooned itself to fly towards the Heaven
and the magic creature never died.
• Due to this worship, silk, the secretion of
silkworm, was believed to be able to lead
the dead man into the Heaven. So people
covered the body with silk, hoping it would
not be kept out of the Heaven.
