Excretory organs
• Skin- rids the body of excess water, salt and
urine
– Primarily used for regulating body temperature
• Lungs- Rid the body of excess water and
CO2
• Liver- Makes urea by breaking down amino
acids (deamination)
• Kidney- filters the blood to remove wastes
Kidney
• Removes excess water, salts and urea from
the body
• Made up of microscopic structures called
nephrons
– It is the nephrons of the kidney that actually
filters the blood of the wastes
