To violate in a sexual manner
 Aggression in a sexual context to which
the victim does not consent
 Unlike any other form of violence
because it is accomplished through
sexual acts
 Strikes at the very core of human dignity
& physical integrity


Rape
 Drug/Date Rape (administration of a drug
against the individuals wishes with or without
their knowledge, which incapacitates or
disorientates the individual with the intent of
carrying out a sexual assault. Alcohol is
included as a drug).
 Sexual Assault
 Sexual harassment

Commercial Sexual Exploitation
 Pornography

CSA includes
Incest
 Sodomy or intercourse
 Lewd / libidinous behaviour
 Indecent assault
 Taking indecent photographs
 Encouraging prostitution
 Witness sexual activity
 Witness pornographic materials

CSA includes
Touching / being made to touch in a
sexual manner
 Talking sexually to a child
 Exposing genitals
 Fondling any part of the body that makes
the child feel uncomfortable
 Forcing the child to masturbate ~ them /
self

CSA includes
Inducing orgasm
 Involving the child in sexualised games
 Watching the child (intrusively)
 Involving others
 Giving money / gifts for sexual favours
 Forcing sexual activity between children
 Forcing the child to engage in sexual
activity with animals

Stats : CSA

1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys will
experience sexual abuse
Figures vary depending on how statistics are gathered & analysed
Women are 2 & 3 times more likely to be
sexually abused than men
 Male rape is seriously under reported
resulting in poor statistical data

