What do we mean by offender
health
Detainee/offender health as this related to
substance misuse, mental health well-being and
physical health
Aims
• To improve the offender health in the wider
sense
• To transmit relevant information across the CJ
pathway
• To measure a reduction in reoffending
• To measure positive impacts for the NHS
Substance use
Dedicated Substance Intervention Programme
All detainees in Police custody are now screened for
any substance /offending links. If known detainees can
be
– Assessed by substance recovery workers
– Tested if known for Class A drug use
– Considered for Restrictions on Bail (ROB)/Conditional
Bail (COB) applications
Information is communicate to court via an Information
for Court form re suitability for ASAR, ATR or DRR
Liaison and Diversion
• An established Criminal Justice Mental
Health Team
• Dual Diagnosis Pilot
• Remand Bed Pilot
