THE MASTER OF SCIENCE PROGRAM
IN PHARMACY (PHARMACOGNOSY)
Pharmacognosy is a dynamic and integrated science that
requires knowledge of botany, organic chemistry, biochemistry,
molecular biology and computer science.
The aim of the M. Sc. Program is to provide pharmacists
who intend to work for the government or in the pharmaceutical
industry with in-depth knowledge and research experience in
pharmacognosy. The program focuses on 4 major areas:
(1) Natural Product Drug Discovery
(2) Phytomedicinal Biology, including bioassays and
molecular biology of medicinal plants
(3) Phytopharmaceutical Development
(4) Medical Ethnobotany

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
I. Thai applicants :
1. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in PHARMACY.
2. A written examination in pharmacognosy and an interview
are to be arranged..
II International applicants:
1. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in PHARMACY.
2. Applicants are considered on an individual basis.
3. An official transcript of undergraduate study and three
letters of recommendation are required.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
1. Students must complete 36 credits (18
credits of formal courses and 18 credits of
thesis).
2. The core courses are Advanced
Pharmacognosy techniques I & II, and
Thai Medicinal Plants and Indigenous
Drugs I & II.
3. In addition, seminars, a thesis and a final
oral examination must be completed.

SCHOLARSHIPS
A limited number of teaching and research assistantships
are available.
