What is causes of crime?
• The causes of crime are factors that contribute to it.

Poverty
• Poverty is when
you do not have
the means to
afford basic
human needs such
as clean water,
nutrition,health
care, education,
clothing and
shelter. Example,
not being able to
provide for your
family.
Drug Abuse
• The use of
illegal drugs or
the inappropriate
use of legal
drugs. The
repeated use of
drugs to produce
pleasure, to
alleviate stress,
or to alter or
avoid reality (or
all three).
Violence in the Media
• media violence
increases the
likelihood of
aggressive and
violent behavior in
both immediate and
long-term contexts.
Short-term exposure
increases the
likelihood of
physically and
verbally aggressive
behavior, aggressive
thoughts, and
aggressive
emotions. (e.g.,

How Can crime be
prevented?
• Taking time to spend time with your
children
• Don’t give into peer pressure
• Stop supporting drug habits
• Continue to get your education
• Make your own decisions
• Strengthen responses for victims of
violence.
Opinion
• I believe that crime deals with people
personal issues. When people commit a
crime, they only do it to express
themselves in any other way. I believe
that the top five causes of crime are
poverty, poor parenting, drug abuse,
violence in the media, and not having
a lot money for police. If these
things can be changed everything could
stabilize.
