Conclusions
The project responded to the mission established in the Statute
of the National University of Cordoba
Academic relationships were established at the local,
national and international levels.
The issue of addiction was permanently incorporated as a topic
of discussion in the school community.
A theoretical framework was created to benefict the wider
university community through outreach, teaching and
research in the nursing field.
The focus of outreach activities was drug abuse
prevention.
Conclusions
 The research (both quantitative/descriptive and qualitative) was
conducted, respectively, 60% by the participants in the Capacity
Building Program and 40% by the professors.
 The number of student-executed research studies rose 210%.
 Leadership activities were initiated in 2002, and strategies were
outlined for the next 3 years.
 The project was evaluated to be highly cost-effective.
Recommendations
Develop strategies to promote the sustainability of the project through:
PROJECT VISION: To promote a healthy lifestyle that avoids drug abuse.
PROJECT MISSION:
To educate nurses to be capable of promoting healthy lifestyles.
To participate actively in resolving problems that result from addiction.
To stimulate cooperation and social reflexion.
To promote nursing care for people with drug problems, through public health
promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
Recommendations
PROJECT GOALS: to be developed for the short-term and mediumterm:
To strengthen undergraduate and graduate nursing curricula.
To incorporate optional subjects into the curriculum.
To create a interdisciplinary group to track graduate
students.
To set into motion inter-disciplinary and multi-centric research.
To train leaders at the community level.
To strengthen local, national and international relationships.
To continue training professors at the research level.
