What
Decawave Do…
Real Time Location
Systems (RTLS)
• Up to 11,000
assets can be
located in a radius
of 20m while
moving at up to
5m/s (the speed of
a forklift truck) to
a precision of
10cm over an
extended range
beyond 500m;
• Dramatically
reduced power
consumption:
operates off a
single watch
battery for up to
10 years or using
energy harvesting
Why
Innovation Partnership?
Project Need
•
DecaWave is a chip
company and not an
antenna company and must
ensure that suitable
antennas exist on the
market so that adoption of
the chip is smooth for
customers.
.
Partnership with Academia
•
Decawave identified
suitable antenna designs
and expertise in the Dublin
Institute of Technology that
complimented their product
to antenna supplier partners
to ensure the technology
can be fully integrated at a
customer site.
•
With the antennae
optimised for use with
Decawave’s chip, this would
ensure that the chip has a
superior performance over
other offerings using off the
shelf components.
Outputs
from Project
• DecaWave signed a module and sales
agreement with the Korean electronics
giant LG to develop the world’s first
low-power ultra-wideband chip.
• The company is filing three patents for
its technology and is also finalising a
significant investment round

Problem
Aerogen encountered
fatigue/corrosion fractures to
the vibrating plate that arose
during life testing.
Initial investigations undertaken
by Aerogen with their supplier
were unable to resolve this
issue.
A field failure of these devices
would require a recall until the
problem is resolved.
• Core element of the aerosol generator
• Electroformed metal sheet with built-in
tapered holes
• Individual aperture plates are formed on
wafers
• Each plate contains over 1000 tapered
holes
