Your State Nominee will receive an Award

A Director will come to your State for presentation if
available

A National winner will be chosen for an award to be
presented at an appropriate time and place

Criteria for Camarena Award





Must be an individual – not an organization
May be a Team within an organization
Must be a Law Enforcement professional
Must be a positive role model committed to a healthy
lifestyle
Must have made an outstanding contribution in the field of
drug awareness/prevention
Criteria Continued

Must have gone beyond the normal responsibilities of their
position

Must have the support of their superiors

If selected, must attend the awards ceremony announced by
the Elks DAP Directors
Nomination Guidelines


Nominations must be accompanied by the Official Elks
Nomination Form
Nomination should be in narrative form and include the
following:


How the Nominee’s commitment has helped youth
Specific Achievements & Awards
Guidelines Continued



Specific programs, publications, community activities etc. that the
nominee has participated in – especially those that motivate &
encourage citizens to take an active part in drug education &
prevention
Leadership and organizational abilities of the Nominee
Time and effort contributed “Beyond the Call of Duty”
