EU-wide Action 2004 - 2009
• ETAP: Promote eco-innovation and the take-up of
Environmental Technologies:
– R&D: up to €10 billion in FP7 for environmental
technologies
– 30 technology platforms (fuel cells, H2)
– Tailor-made financial instruments for eco-innovation
– Performance targets → expansion of eco-design
– Environmental Technology Verification
– Review of state-aid → special attention for eco-innovation
– Green Public Procurement → voluntary 50% target
– Awareness-raising → ETAP Forum (over 1000 participants)
– Innovation in promising areas → Lead Markets
ETAP has been succesful

– Putting environmental technologies/ ecoinnovation on the agenda
– Mobilizing Member States actions (ETAP
national roadmaps)

– Risk of different impact on Member States (long run)
– Financial and administrative barriers
– Limited impact on the global dimension
