Description
•
Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is an exotic West African nation bordered by Ghana, Liberia,
Guinea, Mali, and Burkina Faso, with an extensive coast on the North Atlantic Ocean.
Once a stable, prosperous nation with modern infrastructure, it has sadly become an
unpredictable travel prospect.
•Yamoussoukro, the capital since 1983, is an unique city. The wide
paved streets, grid-like layout people call it home, but Former
President Felix Houphouet - Boigny's dream that it would one day
become a busy capital but it has yet to meet up to his dream.
•Abidjan is the administrative centre, and has a population of around 4 million.
Serving as the capital for 50 years, it offers a large selection of restaurants, hotels
and shimmering skyscrapers, but since the mass exodus of foreigners after a series
of coups and rebellions, it has become more difficult to enjoy the richness of the
tropical side. Yet the village always sustain a high spirit in their faith in god.
Population Growth Factors
There are many factors in this exotic country that have made
an increase and a decrease in the population growth.
• A Population Factor is a specific event or action that affects or
will effect the population growth of certain body of people.
The General Factors
*Government
*GDP
*Environment
Don't forgot about
immigration

Cote D’ivoire:
The Environment
Population Factor 1 :Climate and Location
•
Location can be a factor of the population change; a great example factor is landscape size
and formation. The size of this land effects the population density by increase.
–
–
As you see below there is a population density chart showing the number of Capita (heads) per
kilometer.
The Population Density highly affects the amount of resourse land can provided for certain number
of people.
Area:
total: 322,463 sq km
land: 318,003 sq km
water: 4,460 sq km
- country comparison to the world: 69
If Cote D’ivoire population is (Approx) 21 million and if the
square footage of the country is 322,463 then the total
population density is 651 Capita per square kilometer in total.
Climate and Location
Climate Description:
tropical along coast, semiarid in far north; three
seasons - warm and dry (November to March), hot
and dry (March to May), hot and wet (June to
October).
Location Description
Terrain: mostly flat to undulating plains;
mountains in northwest

Climate and Location :Making
Connection
In many case Location and Climate are factors that interfere or affiliate with each
other affecting other aspect of the Cote environment. These two factors is
evidence of the living condition and can be the effect of living conditions; those
factors can greatly affect the types of organisms that are found safe or extremely
dangerous in the open lands
Putting things together
The location presents a key to the living abilities such as the flat
plains and high amount in the northwest ;migration is easier.
The climate temperatures are warm and dry most of vapor in the
area resides in the highest level of the troposphere causing much
rain fall
So, What is affected?
GDP/ Economy :The flat lands of this region makes planting easy. In
Also since there is high amount of precipitation, there is much
plant growth; it explains the massive agriculture business that
makes this a prosperous country among the other African
countries.
Climate and Location :Precipitation and
Vegetation
There are three main climatic regions, the coast, the forest and the savannah.
The greatest rainfall (80 to 120 inches).
The small range of average temperature, 73°F-80°F (23°C
to 26.6°C) occur in the coastal region,
which has a long dry season from December to April,
followed by the great rains in mid May to mid July.
The short dry season is from mid-July to October and the
little rains in October and November.
.In the central forest region, rainfall is high (53 to
100 inches), humidity continuous, and the season
less clearly marked. The earlier, shorter dry season
(November to mid-March) is followed by a short
wet season (mid-March to mid-May), a short dry
season from mid May to mid July to mid
November.
There is a long wet season from June to October,
and the dry season extends six or seven months.
Temperatures reach their maximum in the northern savannah at
between 90°F-94°F (32°C -24.4°C) minimum is around 14°C (57°F).
•The forest-savanna mosaic interlaces forest, savanna and grassland
habitats. Northern Côte d'Ivoire is part of the West Sudanian
savanna, a savanna-and-scrubland zone of lateritic or sandy soils,
with vegetation decreasing from south to north. The terrain is
mostly flat to undulating plains, with mountains in the northwest.
The impact
As participation is high Cote
D’ivoire will continue to be one
of the richest agriculture areas in
the world, though the currency
per capita is still is low.
Society and GDP
Population Factor 2: Government and War
•
Government
This is a Constitutional government
(Democracy) with a president and
prime minister, after being touch by
the French constitutional system, it
became there own due to
colonization. They have elevated to
2nd -3rd in the demographic transition
due to colonization.
New methods of working have brought
on new methods of livings in the
society, especially since the 1960 –
1980 governance of president Felix’.
Putting things together
• War
For many years before Cote D’Ivoire
independence there was many rivalries
wars taking placed because of countries
pursuit of natural goods in the african
territories.
These wars ended with the african
population including Cote D’Ivoire
decreased.
After president Félix Houphouët-Boigny
the start of the coups and rebellion that
had even further decrease population,
however the birth rate is significant
higher
Political warfare and fluctuating governance cause a massive
change in the society higher birth rate for plantation and field
work increase in colonization and those methods still consist
today.
Population Increase.

Charts: Putting GDP
•
So how do many of these factors: Agriculture, Culture, Government and GDP effect
the population growth? How about a home-made diagram will help.
The Economy effects
the population longterm.
The GDP is the economy is
mostly country stability than
economic stability in this
country
With a growing
economy technology
and agriculture
practices population
increases ultimately
affect the GDP and
financial care of the
community.
The country needs high
exports of goods because
the items in the country are
abundant and are called
over.
Without are value in
products they will use
exportation and ultimate
there ability to be self
sustaining as country.
Population will decrease if it
was GDP was to decrease.
The government flow and
leadership deals with
important factors in a
country such as international
trades.
The leaderships conduct
action of the community.
Some of locals reaction to
government decision or
events starts rebellion and
community diversities.
The society tends to lose
traditional values like citizen
participation and team
works.

Population is faces inconsistent crisis

The more advance
technology are mainly to
construct better city and
business practice then
technology advance for
complete urbanism,
Though since there is much
open space and higher
importation there is some
urban change.
With more importation
cleaner methods of sewage
are increased and there for
monstrous disease are
decreased.
Immigration is usually due
for business and small
resort.
There is a low percentage of
people who live in the
country through long distant
immigration. Rebels have
moved in cause in crisis
The culture in this country is
back breaking work ethic but
with high celebration and
honor and respect for
wisdom and people with it.
Elders are look upon as
powerful work ethics are
high which gives birth to
production,
