• Population of 19,000 permanent inhabitants
• Area approximately 288 km2
• Dutch OCT, special municipality within the country of
the Netherlands
• Coastline: Marine Sanctuary
• GDP: 372 million dollar (2012)
• 2 protected natural areas: Bonaire national marine
Park (BNMP) and Washington Slagbaai National Park.
Includes 5 Ramsar sites.

– Agriculture  use of “grey” water from the brand new
sewerage system in several agricultural projects
– Currently several initiatives for PPP
• Get our brains back to Bonaire by offering high level
educational jobs (Research & development/innovation)
