Objectives of the discussion paper
–

Provide the results of a literature review
concerning the Canadian state-of-practice in
terms of indicators.
Analyze the results of the literature review and
identify relevant indicators currently used in
Canada and gaps, if any.
Recommend, for discussion and adoption by the
NRTSI, a set of indicators for which performance
measures will be developed during the second
part of this project.

Definitions
•
For the purpose of this study:
An indicator is a representation of a given
condition or situation derived from a series of
observed facts [measures] that can reveal
relative positions in a given area.

objective, subjective, or value based.
