employment documents. You will continue
with Part 3, Unit 11.
• Format both a traditional and electronic
resume.
• Format application and follow-up letters
Did you know?
• Employment forms or other forms with lines
should be completed using a typewriter that
has a variable line spacer. It is very difficult
to align forms on the computer!

resume and an electronic resume.
• Please note: special, symbols font or graphic
features should not be used in a electronic
resume.

• Have any of you ever used the Internet to locate a job?
• Did you submit an electronic resume?
• For instance: www.hotjobs.com
• Explain what happened if you have.
• If you have not, explain what could have happened.
• Use complete sentences and respond to 2 classmates.
Scan-able Resume…
• Many companies scan resumes they receive
in their database.
• When a position become available, the
company searches for resumes that include
keywords such as managerial experience.
• Make sure you resume is scan-able!
Discussion time…
• Discuss the different types of information that
would belong in either a resume or a letter of
application.
• Complete 3 sentences and respond to two
classmates.
Follow-up Letter.
• When, why, and to whom should follow-up
letters be sent?
• Have you ever written and sent follow-up
letters? If you have not, do you feel that it is
necessary, and explain.
• Please refer to page 181.

• We will just briefly cover the components of
the final so that you will know what direction
you are to go in.

A Few More Things to be Aware of:
• Familiarize yourself with:
• Margin placements for letters, reports (number of inches)
• Basic Punctuation Rules (You can also refer to past
seminars for more information- commas, etc.)
• Basic Number Rules (Discussed in Week 8 seminar)
• Know whether something is correct or incorrect, based on
punctuation rules, spelling, number basics.
A Few things to remember….
• You can always go back and review past
seminars for more information covered.
• You can use your books and reference
manuals. They will be a big help
• Study, Study, and Study more before you take
the exam !!
Remember …..
• There are two parts to the final:
• Timed Writing
• Language Arts
• Remember to take the Language Arts Exam at one
sitting.
• Save Often!
• Click Submit, ONLY when you are done.
Remember…..
• If you accidentally get “kicked” out of the Kaplan system
while taking the test, you MUST contact Kaplan Tech
Support for assistance first. Remember to get your
confirmation number and they will let you know if it is a
system or user error.
• If you have difficulty with GDP, please contact GDP Tech
Support for assistance first. They will be able to assist you.
• It might be a good idea to not wait until the last minute to
complete your exam (especially your GDP). This will help to
avoid any issues that may occur.
DUE DATES….
• Everything is Due, Tuesday May 4, 2010 at
11:59 PM EST.
• Any work submitted after this time, will NOT
be graded. No late submissions will be
accepted. Complete all work early to avoid
any problems.
