Current Status of Instrument Processor Facility NRT (IPF)

Verification of Version 5.01 in March 2004

Upgrade to Version 5.02 & 5.03 since of PDS technical reasons

Upgrade to Version 5.04:
Usage of climatology information corrected (interpolation error)

All coming upgrades will be implemented into the Off-line data processor

Factory Acceptance Test finalised in July 2004 for Version 2.0
(DLR internal version numbering)

Onsite Acceptance Test in D-PAC (which is beyond DLR-IMF scope) is in
preparation and ongoing

Version 2.0 content is defined by

Limb UV/VIS retrieval equivalent to delivered prototype of SAO
Version 2.5 is currently most actual running version and will become
operational asap:


(Line-of-sight dependency of reflectance db removed)

Change of set-up of covariance matrix for NO2 retrieval

Nadir UV/VIS
– O3 retrieval: Upgrade to GDP 3.0 (implemented)
– Usage of different solar reference spectra (ASM & ESM, cal. & un-cal.)
– Upgrade of reference spectra database
– Upgrade of application settings for O3, NO2, BrO, OClO, and SO2
(as proposed in PCR)
– Usage of US standard climatology for NO2 retrieval
– (Spatial aliasing, depending on verification date)
 Nadir IR
– Upgrade of application settings and Bad&Dead Pixel Mask
– Currently: Test retrievals with simultaneous fit of ILS showed
improvements for selected scenes. Implementation into data processor
will then allow to take into account some of the current show stoppers.
 Limb UV/VIS
– Revision of retrieval scheme and removal of some detected
inconsistencies

All users are invited for suggestion to processor changes.
The agencies (ESA, DLR, and NIVR) implemented a change request
procedure where SSAG and all entities which are needed for
implementation (IECF, key data, data processor) take part of it.
