Research on Catalysis at The Department of
Chemistry, University of Indonesia:
Contact Person: Jarnuzi Gunlazuardi [[email protected]]
Current Research:
Research on catalysis at our The Department of Chemistry, University of Indonesia,
mainly focusses on heterogeneous catalysis employing alumina, titania, zeolite and
modified catalyst. Some of the staffs are also interest on homogeneous catalysts,
employing complex coordination compounds, and phase transfer catalysts,
employing macro molecule e.g. crown ether.

Heterogeneous Catalysis:
We are currently interested on (1) A gas phase emission reduction system of NOX
and SOX ; (2) Transformation of eugenol-isoeugenol and other natural product
species; (3) Modification of alumina, silicon oxide bentonites and zeolites, with
transition metals for special purposes, e.g. hydrogenation of benzene to
cyclohexane.
Heterogeneous Photo catalysis:
We are currently exploring (1) how to manage immobilized TiO2 film coated on to
an inner wall of glass column tube as a photo catalytic reactor and test the reactor
for the degradation of toxic organic compounds and disinfect the water; (2) Study a
photo catalytic reduction of CO2 to produce alcohols; (3) Develop a route to produce
nano size and nano tube of TiO2

Others:
There is also a minor activities on the study of catalytic properties of complex
coordination compounds and macromolecules.
