On three separate occasions we have been presented with NILM data
showing improper operation…This data steered us directly to the
malfunctions weeks before they became mission critical.

Conclusion
• Significant success using nonintrusive electrical load
monitoring to diagnose system faults in
electromechanical systems.
• Successful installations on-board USCGC Seneca,
USCGC Escanaba, and at the USN DDG-51 LBES
facility.
• Goal: collaborate with a USN crew to use the NILM to
detect and remediate electromechanical problems
before they become mission cripples.
