Uniqueness of ADL
• ADL energy technology does not
appear in the above mentioned
exhaustive list of power generation
technologies.
LCOE(levelised cost of
energy)
• Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE, also called
Levelized Energy Cost or LEC) is a cost of
generating energy (usually electricity) for a
particular system. It is an economic assessment
of the cost of the energy-generating system
including all the costs over its lifetime: initial
investment, operations and maintenance, cost of
fuel, cost of capital.
LCOE
• LCOE is the minimum price at which
energy must be sold for an energy project
to break even.
• Typically LCOEs are calculated over 20 to
40 year lifetimes, and are given in the units
of currency per kilowatt-hour, for example
USD/kWh or EUR/kWh or per megawatthour.
LCOE
• The Formula:
where
•
LEC = Average lifetime levelised electricity generation cost
•
It = Investment expenditures in the year t
•
Mt = Operations and maintenance expenditures in the year t
•
Ft = Fuel expenditures in the year t
•
Et = Electricity generation in the year t
•
r = Discount rate
•
n = Life of the system
The basic formula used is based on the US
NREL formula for the levelized cost of energy
(net):
•
Net COE = ICC * CRF / AEPnet + (LLC + O&M + LRC + MOE) – PTC, in US
$/kWh
•
where ICC = Initial Capital Cost (total debt), $
•
CRF = capital recovery factor, 1/yr = int / (1 – (1 + int)^-Life)
•
AEPnet = Net Annual Energy Production, kWh/yr (net of plant own use)
•
= (kW capacity) * (capacity factor) * (hours/year)
•
LLC = Land Lease Cost, $/kWh
•
O&M = Levelized Operating & Maintenance Expense, $/kWh
•
LRC = Levelized Replacement/Overhaul Cost, $/kWh
•
MOE = Miscellaneous Operating Expense, $/kWh
•
PTC = US Production Tax Credit, $/kWh

NEXT STEP
A WILLING ORGANISATION /
GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE
OVER THE PROJECT FOR
IMPLEMENTATION
APPLICATION – EXAMPLE
• THE GOVT DHARMAPURI MEDICAL COLLEGE SPENDS 3.5 LACS
FOR 2 MONTHS [ 21 LACS / YEAR ]
• THE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF ADL IS 10 YEARS.
• IMPLEMENTATION IN FRONT OF THE MEDICAL COLLEGE IS A
POSSIBILITY.
• IF 5 YEAR’S EB EXPENDITURE IS SPENT ON OUR PROJECT,
THE MEDICAL COLLEGE CAN GET ENERGY FOR 10 YEARS.
REAL TIME WORKING MODEL -NO MORE
ROADS ONLY POWER PLATFORMS
NEXT GENERATION- OCEAN ENERGY
CONCEPT – HYBRID
My Opinion
• If these two concepts are implemented, very
soon Tamilnadu will become a POWER – FULL
state
• This could be a solution to the long standing
Koodankulam issue.
• This will be a definite reliable alternative source
of energy to overcome the power crisis.
• I want the Government of Tamilnadu to own these
patents and implement it at the earliest for the
benefit of the society.
