Chassis Material
HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) – Low cost, low
weight, easily to work with
Often used as 3D printer filament
Sheet Metal, Aluminum – Low cost, low weight
Design by:
Dale Hussung
Wheels
Mecanum wheels allow for multidirectional
movement without turning
No reputable sources on difference in power
consumption
Same force and velocity as standard wheel
Traction may be an issue in either case
Mecanum wheels remove issue of reorienting
targeting system during line following
Microcontroller
We recommend the Arduino Mega or Due
Both more robust than Uno
Mega has higher operating voltage (5v)
compared to Due (3.3v)
Due has more on board memory (512 Kb) as
opposed to Mega (128 Kb)
Plenty of I0 Pins (12 PWM for Due and 15
PWM for Mega)
Batteries
High quality rechargeable batteries are preferred
for high drain devices
More likely to provide advertised output
We recommend 7.4 Volt, 2100 mAh RC
batteries
More than enough voltage and current for the
competition limits
Servos/Motors
Good quality servos are a must
Light, quick acceleration, smooth operation and faster
response time
