Loading and Hauling Equipment
And Maintenance
Defects that effect safety are to be recorded and equipment
Taken out of service until the defect is fixed
Equipment will have audible backing warning, lights on front
And back (or motion sensors or spotters)
Berms or guardrails on elevated roadways
Suggestions to Avoid Citation
• Maneuvering Visibility
– Need lights in front and rear
– Need audible backing warning
– Consider technology such as special mirrors or even motion and proximity
sensors
• Old fashioned spotter
• Equipment Servicing
–
–
–
–
If a defect effects safety take it out of service and record the defect
Does the defect create a hazard?
Would it if it were in service?
Is defect a risk under special conditions?
• Has it been scheduled for repair before the problem could appear
– Has Equipment been inspected prior to return to service
• Is the result of that inspection also recorded
More Suggestions
• Berms and Guardrails
– Need to exist where ever there is a big enough
drop off to overturn a vehicle
– If there are gaps for drainage could a truck also
drain itself through the gap?
