Introduction

In Yesterday topics Lectures of IWPP, KUWAIT for Building Infrastructure in of
KUWAIT depends on availability of adequate infrastructure to its sustain growth and
tangible benefits depends on the best practices that is adopted to the KUWAIT
ENVIORNMENT

My topic will be covering the Utilities Section of the Environment which is influencing
the Geographical Locations.

Most AM/FM/GIS electric power studies and analysis applications were developed for
electrical distribution systems analysis and design. AM/FM/GIS was used as a
component of a full-featured Distribution Automation system Other applications tackled
the problem of designing the electrical supply system for new residential development

GIS was also used to rebuild the design of the whole work procedures in electric
utilities

GIS and Automated Mapping and Facilities( GIS/AM/FM) are also integrated for
mapping and analysis of electric distribution as Enterprise methods.

Challenges
 As modern technologies arise, power utilities are seeking new methods to improve
system reliability, power quality and satisfaction in Implementing and Awarding
the contractors.
 High quality of the power can only be achieved if the system losses are at their
minimum level and the voltage level is within an acceptable range.
 In order to reach an optimal solution of the problem presented above, it is
necessary to perform a large number of scenarios and output analyses for both
the economical and the technical grounds.
 The system models for this analysis is derived from a large database model. Thus
a powerful data management tool with query, analyses and interfaces capabilities
is a major necessity for the complete solution of the problem.
 Automated Mapping, Facilities Management and Geographic Information System
(AM/FM/GIS) provide a real solution to the management of the data required
for engineering analyses.

AIMS and OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
SAUDI ELECTRICAL COMPANY SAUDI ARABIA,
WHICH MANAGES THE ELECTRICAL
DISTRIBUTION/TRANSMISSION AND
GENERATION NETWORKS FOR THE WHOLE
KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
THE EASTERN REGION HAS IMPLEMENTED
THE GIS/AM/FM SOLUTION WITH
INTEGRATION OF POWER ANLAYSIS tools
FOR BETTER MANAGABILITY
DAY TO DAY OPERATIONAL METHODS ARE
AUTOMATED FOR BETTER SERVICES and
prompt action
THE APPLICATION AIM TO DRAW AUTOMATED
MAPS COVERING COMMON SEQUENCE OF
PROCEDURES
( DESIGNING, C REATION, OPERATION AND
MAINTEANCE )

Levels Adopted in the Projects
Level one, designing and creating to help map drawer and to implement
various options including connecting electricity to the customers.
Level two, is an application aimed at performing query using various
options and displaying different charts in order to analyze the electricity
network and print reports.
Level three, using the system through Ethernet and Internet, used by the
Eastern Zone Distribution Sector staff which includes the head quarter,
Distribution Engineering Department and Electricity Department in
Dammam covering Electricity Services Office in Al-Khobar and Qattif.
One of the most important applications is managing electricity network,
creating a new network, performing queries on the network, handling base
map and creating single line diagram. In addition, performing an
estimation cost for the new projects and linking data with PSS/engine.
Among the other used application is callout system, Mainteance and
Operation which helps company staff determine the location of the
customer
quickly

Project Management
 Management of projects Can be maintained:
Contractors approval process
Classification of Contractors
Types of Applicable Contracts
Evaluation Systems for Contractors
Performance
Safety and health standards and practices

Creating aproject around a features

In the attribute record form, give a name to your project (so that you can
easily retrieve it later in the demonstration) : e.g.=”My demo project”

Generating Work Orders

You HAVE TO generate Works Orders for your project. This is a mandatory
operation prior to access to Work Orders functionalities. Click on the “Work
Order Generation” button.

Work orders are generated for the different assemblies of your project. Choose
a contractor for each work order.

Print Work Orders

Once a Work Order is selected, you can print one of the following reports
- Material issue request Bill (you will have to select a sub-account first)
- Work Order Labor
- Work Order Labor Contractor
- Work Order Labor Bill

Accumulation of load
Accumulate customer load to mini-pillar. This function trace all the meters connected
to a mini-pillar, sums the loads of each customer and stores this value in the
appropriate attribute of the mini-pillar database record. A diversity factor is applied
during the load summation efforts to estimate the mini-pillar loads more accurately…
This function operates for:
MINIPILLAR : one single mini-pillar graphically
selected on screen
AREA : all mini-pillar graphically selected on screen
TRANSFORMER : all mini-pillars supplied by a
transformer selected
SUBSTATION : all mini-pillar supplied by a
substation selected
FEEDER: all mini-pillar supplied by a feeder selected

Voltage drop
Voltage drop MV calculation. This function calculates the voltage drop on MV cables and lines
feeding from a feeder graphically selected on screen. The MV cables voltage drop is calculated
by using the length and impedance of the MV cables and the accumulated loads
