OBJECTIVES
At the end of this unit you should be able to:
• describe the legal responsibility of the school towards pupils
in the area of moral, spiritual, social and cultural development
• begin to identify opportunities in school to promote these
aims
• try out some methods of teaching towards these aims and
evaluate them
• place moral and values education in a subject and school
context, including citizenship education
• relate these aspects of a teacher's role to the
standards/competences expected of a newly qualified teacher.
