Someone has defined ethics
as the difference between
legality and morality.
What can that mean?
The Difference Between Public and
Private Morality Robert Reich March 13, 2012
“Republicans have morality upside down.
Santorum, Gingrich, and even Romney are
barnstorming across the land condemning gay
marriage, abortion, out-of-wedlock births,
access to contraception, and the wall separating
church and state.”

“But America’s problem isn’t a breakdown in
private morality. It’s a breakdown in public
morality. What Americans do in their
bedrooms is their own business. What
corporate executives and Wall Street financiers
do in boardrooms and executive suites affects
all of us.”

Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967),[1] was a
landmark civil rights case in which the
United States Supreme Court, in a
unanimous decision, declared Virginia's antimiscegenation statute, the "Racial Integrity
Act of 1924", unconstitutional, thereby
overturning Pace v. Alabama (1883) and
ending all race-based legal restrictions on
marriage in the United States.
Still today:

Republicans think that
miscegenation should be
illegal.
