The Anaconda
Anacondas…
•
•
•
•
Eat meat
Are 20-30 feet long
Have black spots
Do not have bones
The Anaconda
Anacondas are carnivores. This
means that the only thing they eat
is meat. Anacondas eat other
animals. A few examples of what
Anacondas eat would be fish, birds,
and alligators.
Click the red dot to learn more!
No bones
makes it
easy for
them to
eat their
prey!
Anacondas don’t have bones so
they can swallow their prey
whole. They are able to eat
alligators because they have no
bonds. They swallow it all at
once.
QUESTION
TIME!
What would an
Anaconda eat that we
would mostly eat as
well?
A. Eggs
B. Any type of meat
C. Cereal
That isn’t quite right!
Anacondas don’t eat eggs! Try
again!
EXACTLY!
Anacondas are carnivores
so they eat meat. We eat
meat as well! Good job!
Cereal is just for humans! I
don’t think an Anaconda would
be able to find cereal in the
jungle. Try again!
The Macaw
Macaws…
• Are 1-3 feet tall
• Weigh up to 3.75 pounds
• Are red, yellow, green, and blue
The Macaw
Macaw’s have
strong beaks that
they use to break
their food open.
Macaw’s eat fruits, nuts and
seeds. They are called
herbivores because they eat
things that comes from
plants.
Click on the black dot to learn
more!
Macaw’s have what’s called
gripping toes. They use them
to grip branches when they
sit.
QUESTION
TIME!
What kind of pet could
you have that has
gripping toes like a
Macaw?
A. A parrot
B. A cat
C. A horse
Exactly!
A parrot has gripping toes
like a Macaw! And you could
have a parrot as a pet!
Cats don’t have gripping toes.
They only have paws and
claws! Try again!
Horses don’t have gripping
toes. They only have
horseshoes. Try again!
The Jaguar
Jaguars…
• Are carnivores because they eat
meat
• Are 6 feet long
• Have black spots
The Jaguar
Jaguars are very fast animals. They
run up to 65 mph. That’s as fast as
your parents car can drive on the
highway!!! Jaguars have to be fast
because when they hunt their food,
they chase and catch the animals
they want to eat.

how a Jaguar runs!

QUESTION
TIME!
How fast would you
have to run to outrun
a Jaguar?
A. 20 mph
B. 45 mph
C. 70 mph
That’s not quite right! 20 mph is
too slow! The Jaguar would
catch you in no time! Try again!
That’s close, but a little too
slow! The Jaguar would catch
you. Try again!
Exactly!
That’s right! You would have
to run at least 70 mph to
outrun a Jaguar! Good
thinking!
The Spider Monkey
Spider Monkeys…
• Eat fruits, leaves, and spiders
• Are 2 feet tall
• Are black or brown
The Spider Monkey
• Spider Monkeys are omnivores. An
omnivore eats both meat and
plants, or parts of plants. Because
Spider Monkeys eat spiders
(meat) and fruits and leaves
(plants/parts of plants), they are
called omnivores.
Click on the red dot to learn more!
Spider Monkeys use
their tails when
they want to hang
upside down or
when they swing
from tree to tree.
QUESTION
TIME!
What food could you
eat that an omnivore
could also eat?
A. An apple
B. A spider
C. An egg
Exactly!
That’s right! An omnivore
can eat an apple and so can
you!
Oh no! I hope you don’t eat
spiders! Humans can’t have
those. Try again!
Not exactly. An egg is not meat
or part of a plant so an
omnivore wouldn’t eat it. Try
again!
