The narrator and a tomboy.

Atticus’ brother; a doctor that visits every Christmas.

The Finches’ housekeeper.

The Neighborhood
Grumpy man that boards across the street; claims
that snow is caused by disobedient children.

The Finches’ neighbor and Dill’s aunt.

Miss Rachel’s nephew that comes to visit every
summer from Meridian.

Neighborhood gossip, the kids hear most of the

Scout’s first grade teacher who needed a lot of help
adjusting to Maycomb life.

Rude boy that has lice and only has to go to school
on the first day.

The Radleys
She would only be seen when watering her flowers.

A scary recluse who never leaves the house and is
allegedly violent.
Arthur “Boo” Radley
The meanest man that ever lived.
Mr. Radley
The son that came back home from Florida when his
father dies.
Mr. Nathan Radley
Surrounding the Trial
The lawyer assigned to the Ewells; showed no respect
for Tom Robinson when cross-examining him.
Mr. Gilmer
The sheriff of the town; he has Atticus kill the mad
dog because he is a better shot.
Mr. Heck Tate
Specifically gave Atticus the task of defending Tom
Robinson.
Judge Taylor
Violent and drunk lower class man who tries to kill
Jem and Scout.

Tom’s wife.
Helen Robinson
Tom and Helen’s employer who speaks up for Tom at
the trial and later threatens Bob Ewell for
intimidating Helen on her way to work.
Mr. Link Deas
He has a mangled left arm and yet is wrongfully
accused of raping a white woman.
Tom Robinson
Bob’s daughter who was allegedly raped by a black
man.
Mayella Ewell
One of Atticus’ clients; shows up at the jail to kill
Tom, but changes his mind when Scout reminds him
of his humanity.
Walter Cunningham, Sr.
Owner of the Maycomb newspaper; is known to be a
racist but speaks out against Tom Robinson’s death.
