In South America they are know
as pampas and are located in the
south of the continent.
In North America grasslands
are known as prairies and
are located around the rocky
mountains.

Bald Eagles
•national bird of U.S.
• weighs 8-12 lbs
• wingspan can be 2 m.\7 ft.
• Changed to a recovered species as of July 2000
•Hunts in pairs
Prairie Dogs
•Prairie dogs are named for their dog-like yip
•They are very social animals|
Badger
•Males are 21-29 in.
• Females are 17-26 in.
• Average weight is 9-27 lbs.
•Sometimes pairs up with coyotes for hunting ground squirrels
•Listed as a Species of Special Concern by the California Department of Fish and Game
Swift Fox
•Also known as the Prairie Fox
• Almost went extinct
• gets its name because it can reach speeds of 25 mph
• Nocturnal
•Considered to be endangered in Canada by the Committee on the Status
of Endangered Wildlife in Canada
Coyotes
•Males are 18-44 lbs.
• Females are 7-18 lbs.
•4 ft. long including tail
Bobcats
•Weighs an average of 33lbs.
•Body is 26-42 in. long
•Tail is 4-8 in.
• Average 2 ft. tall
• Favorite prey is rabbit
• is prey to cougars and pumas
•On the Least Concern list
• As many as 1 million live in the U.S.
